Our story
Richard Murphy and his wife Mary Bancroft visited Upolu, Sāmoa in September of 2024. Their hotel encouraged visitors to bring school supplies to donate to the nearby primary school in the village of Lalomanu. Rather than take workbooks and sports equipment due to their weight, Richard decided to take the school a Raspberry Pi server and a WiFi router, since he was aware of the Code Clubs[1] sponsored by the Raspberry Pi Foundation worldwide. The teachers at the school were extremely gracious in receiving this technology, but Richard realized that they were a long way from being able to use the equipment to improve the digital literacy of their students. In fact, the school has many important needs that, if met, would greatly benefit both the students and teachers. The seed of the Lalomanu Foundation was planted.
